Supermulher Parte 2
Superwoman Part 2
In my last post I talked about the superwoman concept that is prominent in today’s Society and that in reality it is hard as women and as human beings to follow these ideal standards all the time.
I know that what I’m going to write next could be misinterpreted but I’m going to write it anyway and then try to explain as best I can.
We’re all weak!
What do I mean by this? That we can’t do anything? Of course not. We can do many things BUT we can’t do everything right, everything perfectly all the time. After all, we’re human beings! God talks about this clearly in the Bible:
"As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him; for he knows how we are formed,he remembers that we are dust.”. (Psalm 103:13-14)
Who has never been ill? Or had problems? Or been stressed out? Or had doubts and fears?
A lot of the time we don’t like to admit to our weakness and we just want to make it seem that we’re successful, strong, independent people that have everything together. All you need to do is scroll down your Facebook newsfeed to see this.
However, Paul (one of the first apostles in the church) had a radically different approach, as God spoke to him about a particular problem and said:
"My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."" 2 Corinthians 12:9
And then Paul responds to this word from God and says to the members of the church in Corinth: “Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
2 Coríntios 12:9-10
What an approach! To delight in your weaknesses!!
All of this is countercultural but it’s also a wise approach.
The wise person is not the one who thinks he can do everything or that he knows everything and is invincible but wise is the person that recognizes his limitations. The wise person recognizes his weakness and depends more on God for strength.
Think about it, who is stronger: the person who only depends on their own limited "strength" or the person that depends on God, the creator of the Universe?
As Paul says: "When I am weak then I am strong".
We need to recognize our weakness so that we fully depend on God and He gives us His strength!
